How to use my eGift?

There are two ways you can buy and use your eGift in-store. Both are simple and easy to do, it just comes down to personal preference.

Option 1:

You can buy your eGift before you go to the shop. You can load it with a larger amount than you think you will spend, so it's ready for when you get to the checkout in the shop. This is helpful if you know your supermarket has poor signal, or you don't want to wait for your eGift to come through at the checkout. It might mean you have some money left on your eGift after a purchase, but that can always be used on your next shop as eGifts can be stacked. For example, if your total comes to £5 and you have two vouchers of £2.50, you can use them both to pay for the whole shop.

Option 2:

You can wait until you have done your shopping to buy your eGift. This way you can put in the exact amount of your shop (down to pennies) so that you don't have any leftover money on your eGift to use next time. This option does require a little bit of time at the till, and internet connection, but is good if it's a spontaneous trip to the shops or you think your bill might total more than a pre-purchased eGift.

How you use it also depends on if you are using self-checkout or a staff-assisted till. Both of the previous options work regardless of which kind of till you go to.

Self-Checkout:

Once you are done with your shopping, scan it through as normal. Also if applicable you can scan loyalty or discount cards you have at this time to reduce your total. Then, instead of paying by card or cash as usual, click the eGift or Gift Voucher option on the till and scan the eGift that was sent to your phone when you purchased. This can be found in your emails, or in the Orders section of My Account on the Snip website. Some eGifts can also be saved to your google wallet too. And that's it, you're bills have been snipped.

Staff Assisted Till:

Once you are done with your shopping, have the staff member scan through your shopping as normal. Also if applicable you can scan your loyalty or discount cards you have at this time to reduce your total. Then, instead of paying by card or cash as usual, load the eGift that was sent to your phone when you purchased (This can be found in your emails, or in the Orders section of My Account on the Snip website) and hand it to the member of staff to scan. And that's it, you're bills have been snipped.
